MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET
A Holiday Radio Show
Remember the good old days before there were computers and TV's? Well, maybe you don't, but have always wanted to experience those great days of radio, where the audience was live and the actors took on several parts, sounding like different characters, and the sound effects and music were live as well!
The Cannon Theatre is visiting the 40's with a good old fashioned radio show, presenting a holiday favorite, Miracle on 34th Street. Miracle on 34th Street, for those not familiar with the story, tells of a man hired by the cynical and no nonsense Doris Walker to work as the Macy’s Department Store Santa. He insists that his name is Kris Kringle and that he is the real Santa Claus. When he gets into a minor scuffle and comes to the notice of the police, he has to prove that he is, “the one and only Santa Claus” in order to keep from being committed to a psychiatric hospital. Kris’ lawyer, Fred Gailey and Doris’s young daughter, Susie need a miracle to help free Kris, as they continue to believe in Kris' identity. Will Kris go free? Will Susie start to believe? Read by some of our favorite actors, some familiar faces, and some new----with a quartet of singers, and special sound effects, all on stage! The show wass on Fri., Dec. 13 and Sat., Dec. 14 at 7:30 pm, with a special matinee on Sat., Dec. 14 at 1:00 pm.
