ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Picture
ED KNIGHTS
Director for "Charleys Aunt"

We are excited to have Ed Knights join our theater as a guest director.   He is a vibrant and talented actor, singer and director and we feel very lucky to have him join us!

He
is delighted to be directing another farce, this time in the perfect setting for bringing British comedy "up close and personal": The Cannon Theatre's  black box.  His family has been involved in "show biz" since 1900, when his great grandfather was Annie Oakley's agent.  His grandfather did minstrel shows off the back of a patent medicine wagon and his mom was the first woman to head the theater at Brown University. He started on the stage in grade shcool, as well as doing gymnastics performances and figure skating shows. He was in a couple of shows at Brown with Jo Beth Williams, and he's been performing and directing in community theaters since finishing med school in the late '70's.  He met his wife in "Love, Sex and the IRS," and they've worked together on a number of shows since then.  The most recent farces he's directed are "Matchmaker," The Foreigner," and "Run for Your Wife."

We hope that you will come out and see this great play and show your support!
