The Glass Menagerie is a "memory play" narrated by Tom Wingfield, who looks back on his life in a 1930s St. Louis tenement. Trapped in dead-end jobs and burdened by his nagging mother, Amanda, and his cripplingly shy, disabled sister, Laura, Tom longs for escape.

The part of Amanda Wingfield has already been cast.
All other parts are open.

Character Breakdown

Tom Wingfield:  Amanda's son, Laura's brother, and the play's narrator. He works a dead-end job at a shoe warehouse to support his family but yearns to escape and become a poet.

Laura Wingfield
:  Amanda's daughter and Tom's older sister. She is painfully shy and frail, set apart by a childhood illness that left her with a limp. She retreats into a comforting fantasy world centered around her collection of delicate glass animals.

Jim O'Connor
:  The "gentleman caller". A former high school hero who works at the same shoe warehouse as Tom, he serves as an emissary from the outside world and
a brief spark of hope for Laura.

Show opens Oct. 9-25
