Children's Shows At The Cannon Theatre---- REVIEWs

Rachel B.----------Shawn directed 2 plays that my children were in, A Little Princess and Pirates of Penzance.  For Pirates of Penzance, I worked for Shawn as her musical director.  So my experience with Shawn is both from the perspective of a parent of a participant and from behind the scenes.  The product that Shawn guides children to produce far exceeds their own expectations and the standards set by other children's theater groups.  She gets this result with a clear, stepwise progression of work from the children.  They know what lines to focus on and how well they should know them by what date.  Furthermore, Shawn teaches a clean, healthy vocal sound- not the strained, chest voice produced by some children's theaters.  She is a joy to work for.  She communicates her needs clearly without micromanagement and when there are issues to resolve or redirections needed, she expresses her position and moves on. In addition to pushing children to work hard and produce a great product,  Shawn ends up being a confidant and role model to many of the teens.  While rolling hair and applying makeup,  I heard Shawn more than once champion clean living - no alcohol, no drugs- and fun living at the same time.  So if you want your child to gain self-respect from good, hard work and to improve their drama and vocal abilities, I strongly suggest you check out her programs.

Julie B.----Shawn Cannon and The Cannon Theatre in Littleton have done it again! Burst my buttons tonight watching Sons 2, 3, and 4 whooping and hollering and stomping it up in "Sip Sasparilly Saloon." An outstanding show after only two weeks of rehearsal. Yeehaw!
